Success is maximizing the unique combination of your physical talents, mental approach and basketball skills. A “skill“ is an attribute developed through deep practice. By contrast, “talent” is a genetic disposition that makes it easier for someone to develop a skill.
So what is success? A girl who just finished her college career. Sam Price.
I can’t say I am more proud of any kid I’ve worked with over the past 6 years than Sam. Yes we’ve worked with NBA players and potentially the #1 draft pick in Joel Embiid. No one has worked harder than this girl. She changed her shot her junior year in high school and shot 92.7% from the FT line her last 2 years in college. If you want success you have to be willing to change. But, if you aren’t willing to change you will not improve.
Will she play in the WNBA? Nope. But, is she maximizing her potential, controlling everything she can with her attitude and effort? Absolutely. It’s not about the player who you become – it’s about who you become as a person trying to be that player. Here’s to you Sam — we wish you all the best.
