In an attempt to get better at pausing, relaxing, and being grateful I thought Thanksgiving would be a timely moment to share some of my favorite quotes on the topic. These quotes can be a great reminder to slow down and remember that no matter what problems you might have, and how hard things may seem, there is always someone who has it worse. If you are reading this article there is a great chance that at some point in your life someone loved you, taught you and supported you.
“If you want to be happier be more grateful”
So simple, but so true.
The other day I wrote out some thank you cards to people who have helped me out over the past year and it was one of the most satisfying days I’ve had in a while.
“Learn how to be happy with what you have while you pursue all you want”
—Jim Rohn
“Cultivating an attitude of gratitude is like working on any other fundamental, you have to practice.”
— Jim Tressell
Not a quote, but a great story…

Thanksgiving Year-Round
It’s easy to point fingers at others, isn’t it? “I’m not getting ahead because of my lame boss.” “I would have gotten that promotion if it hadn’t been for that backstabbing co-worker.” “I’m always in a bad mood because my kids are driving me crazy.” And we’re particularly gifted in the finger-pointing department when it comes to our romantic relationships—you know, where the other person is the one who needs to change.
A few years back, a friend of mine was complaining about his wife. From my observation, she was a terrific lady, and he was lucky to have her. I told him as much, but he continued to point out all the ways she was responsible for his unhappiness. That’s when I shared an experience that had literally changed my marriage. One Thanksgiving, I decided to keep a Thanks Giving journal for my wife.

The People…
I wake up most days and can’t believe the life that I have. I truly am thankful everyday. Today I want to take some time to publicly thank the people that have helped get me to where I am. I’m a huge believer that you are only as good as the people you surround yourself with and even though several of these people are thousands of miles away their support has been constant since the start.
First of all, my parents, Cindy and Ed Lee. Thank you for teaching me to work and have patience, but mostly from my dad to always ask, “what is the maximum risk?” and layout all the pros and cons in every business decision I’ve had to make.
Luke Meier — thank you for all your support and belief in what we do. I am lucky to have you and your understanding, beautiful wife who supports us as well. I could write an entire page about you and probably should!
Thank you to the following for inviting me to speak at your camps and clinics or workout your players. Many of you have also shared with me two of the most valuable things in the world, your time and knowledge.
Brian Brinkerhoff (Full Court Basketball/Level X Hoops), Brian Vande Lune (Standfirm Baskebtall Academy), Joe Koeniczny (Columbus Catholic High School), Forrest Larson (Take it to the Rim), Eddie Andrist (University of Wisconsin-Stout), Kenny Atkinson (New York Knicks), Bill Peterson (Milwaukee Bucks), Dale Layer (Liberty University), Ike Wilson (Nike Playground Elite), Justin Litscher (Wisconsin Swing), Jason Jesperson (Wisconsin Playmakers), Joe Russom (Fox Valley Hustle), Jerry Petitgoue (WBCA/Cuba City High School), Steve Becker and Spencer Schulz (Athlete Peformance), Dave MacArthur (Colby High School, 1970-2006) Ganon Baker, Alan Stein (Stronger Team/DeMatha), Kevin Orr (Rice Lake High School), Andy Banasik (Prairie du Chien) Eric Oleszak, Brett Hirsch, and Tyler Schulz (Wisconsin Shooters), Kyle Manary (Nike Basketball), Drew Hanlen (Pure Sweat Basketball), Brian James (Philadelphia 76ers) Dee Brown (Detroit Pistons), Oties Epps (Evansville University), Danny Makepeace (Pure Intensity Basketball), Zach Fry, Dan Underburg (Cardinal Stritch University), Brad Autry and Buzz Williams (Marquette University), Shelby Parrish, Dell Williams and Nate Cooper (Milwaukee Running Rebels)
I also would like to thank all the players that train with us, and most of all, the parents who support your children. Without you none of this would be possible. It’s crazy how some of you have gone from skinny little 7th graders to playing on ESPN! I am extremely proud of all the time you put in!
Lastly, thank you to all our blog readers, thousands of YouTube subscribers, Twitter followers and miSkillz members, for letting us share our passion for this great game with people from all across the world.
Make sure you take the time this week to thank the people that have shared their resources with you. You’re crazy if you think you got where you are alone.
Make it a great day!
