Although I didn’t read as much as I’d like to, I did read two quality books this past month.
Chop Wood, Carry Water by Joshua Medcalf
This book is full of great “nuggets” for personal development. In all honesty, the story itself was hard for me to go along with but the overall message makes it worth the read.
The Path of No Resistance by Garret Kramer
Similar to his first book Stillpower, Kramer provides a unique view on how we approach psychology and mental training. Much of what he says is counter to popular belief, but I really believe his approach.
Many of us view the world “Outside In” – we look at events that happen to us and then correlate those events to making us feel a certain way. Alternatively, Kramer suggests an “Inside Out” approach where our thinking about an outside event, not the event itself, makes us feel a certain way. Realizing that your thinking about what happens makes you feel a certain way, not the actual event itself is a game changer. This is a must read.
