I had a chance to catch up with an old AAU teammate the other day and there is probably not a better person I know that demonstrates how basketball can translate to the rest of your life. Ever since I met Clayton Hanson as a sophomore in high school I knew he was going to be successful no matter what he did. He is one of the hardest working people I have ever met in my life. He worked just as hard setting an Adidas Big Time record of 54 points, breaking Kobe Bryant’s numbers, as he did in practice. After several All-State and player of the year honors in high school he walked on at the University of Wisconsin, playing 4 years for 2 time coach of the year, Bo Ryan. After leading the Big Ten in 3 Point FG percentage, Big Ten Championships and Elite 8 finishes he is now working for Goldman Sachs in New York City. Clay used basketball to get a degree from one of the most prestigious schools in the Midwest and is now using all the life skills such as work ethic and discipline he learned on the hardwood. The ball always stops bouncing at some point, but the questions is where is it going to take you. The decision is yours!
